Director of Environmental Services
40 Hours per week Pay Range: $27.25 - $32.70 (dependent on experience)
Job Duties include but not limited to:
Plans, coordinates and manages all activities of the Environmental Services Department personnel.
Coordinates housekeeping and laundry activities with other departments (i.e. dietary, nursing, etc.) within the facility.
Supervises work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure sanitary, orderly and attractive conditions in the facility. - Supervises laundry staff on all shifts. - Instructs personnel in use of new equipment and cleaning methods to provide efficient and economical methods of maintaining the facility
Provides weekend and holiday coverage, on a rotating basis with other departmental staff for the purpose of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
Ensures for the appropriate training of all housekeeping and laundry staff regarding the handling and disposal of hazardous and infectious waste - Interprets department policies and procedures to professional and non-professional personnel
Directs and supervises scheduling of employees within established guidelines
Conducts interviews, hires employees, conducts counseling interviews and initiates disciplinary actions as necessary
Communicates daily with department personnel providing clear, concise information as well as specific assignments
Participates in the development of a scheduling plan
Participates in the development and maintenance of job descriptions for department personnel
Checks invoices, purchase orders, packing slips, etc., with incoming merchandise and submits to Administrator and Corporate Office in a timely manner
Assumes responsibility for the development of environmental services objectives and performance standards of staff
Assumes accountability for the development and implementation of department policies and procedures
Monitors in-services educational programs to meet the needs of the staff and facility
Conducts staff meetings with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating and implementing department policies and procedures
Prerequisites: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required Two (2) to three (3) years supervisory experience, preferably in a health care setting Knowledge of OSHA, JCAHO, Department of Public Health and related state and federal regulations related to housekeeping and laundry is required At least one (1) year experience in a cleaning, laundry or housekeeping function is required
