Respiratory Therapist - Outpatient Pulmonary Rehab - Whittier Rehab Hospital - Bradford Per Diem
At Whittier’s Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, our team of specialists is dedicated to helping patients manage chronic lung disease and achieve the best possible quality of life. Through structured, individualized rehab plans, our therapists guide patients in building endurance, improving breathing techniques, and learning strategies to manage their condition with confidence.
Our AACVPR certified program goes beyond exercise. Clinicians provide education on oxygen use, medications, nutrition, energy conservation, and infection prevention—giving patients and their families the tools they need to succeed at home and in the community. Just as importantly, our team fosters encouragement and support every step of the way.
Working in collaboration with pulmonologists and other healthcare providers, Whittier’s outpatient team ensures each patient receives evidence-based, personalized care.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate as a trusted member of the patient care team as the subject matter expert to drive patients to their goals
Assists in the development of exercise prescriptions and protocols and supervises exercise therapy.
Assess patients based on their medical history for admission into the Pulmonary Rehab
Manages care plans and new patient intakes
Provides support with oxygen administration and titration for patients requiring O2 supplementation.
Monitors SpO2 saturations for every patient
Provides education for patients on breathing mechanics and coping with their restrictive and/or obstructive pulmonary disease.
Assists patients in equipment understanding concepts and lifestyle modification principles.
Fulfill all compliance and database responsibilities related to this position
Performs other duties as assigned by Department leadership
Prerequisites:
B.S., or A.S. in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Current licensure by the Division of Registration, Board of Respiratory Care, Commonwealth of MA.
Certification in BLS for the Healthcare provider.
Knowledge, experience and competency in dealing with adult rehabilitation and geriatric age group.
